Introduction

...

IL-5 production of proliferating NK cells is reduced in the presence of IL-12 (Warren et al., 1995). CD8alpha+ DCs produce IL-12 in response to glycolipid presentation, which stimulates secondary IFN-gamma production by NK cells in different organs (Schmieg et al., 2005)

Chrul et al. (2006, PMID:17047292) demonstrated that stimulation of NK cells by a mixture of IL-12 and IL-18 caused a significant increase in KIR2DL1+ and KIR2DL2+ NK cells but not in KIR3DL2+ cells, while stimulation with IL-2 increased the frequency of all three subsets.
